The Bible says in Romans 8:37, ‘No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.’
As Christians, we’ve always heard that the devil has been defeated and we are victorious through Jesus. But have you ever come across a question that, if he is dethroned then why are the hosts of darkness still ruling over the world and even over a few Christians or believers?
I learned some truths about His Kingdom. And one of them was, ‘Learning to exercise our God given authority.’ There are two reasons that we might fail to walk in the victory God gave us:
- We are unaware of our authority. We attend church, listen to sermons, and sing songs but hardly exercise the teachings of it in our daily life. When we are ignorant of our position and authority in Christ we won’t know to exercise or use it.
- We don’t know how to exercise or use it. If the government has several different schemes for the citizens of our country, and if we are aware and still choose not to use them, then we are not taking advantage of the privilege we have.
The most important things to practice while growing deeper in Christ are:
Learn to act on the Truth.
John 8:32, ‘Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Once you know the truth about who you are in Christ, acting upon it will set you free. And when we know and act upon the truth, God promises us that we will spread the fragrance of His knowledge. 2 Corinthians, ‘but thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.’ As we learn to act on the truth that’s the word of God, we start to take the place of Jesus on earth. Jesus is the Head and we are His body. Whenever Satan tries to attack our family, our mind, our health, or our finances, just command him to stay away. Remind yourself that you are no longer going to live a life of ignorance but will walk in the truth trusting God for your life.
Shut the door to Evil.
Matthew 12:43-45, ‘When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.’ As new Christians we are cleansed when we accept and receive Jesus in our lives, we understand His love, and we are slowly getting to know Him, which means the house, which is our heart and body is clean. And when Satan sees that, there will come double trouble ahead of us. He will come after our life and if we give in to him, we’ll allow Him to rule ever us. So, it’s important once we are clean, we need to be wise in opening certain doors in our life. Not everything in this world is for us. To keep ourselves away from the rule of Satan, we should shut some doors in our life. It will be hard to reject the world but at least it won’t worsen our lives. As it says in Matthew 12:45, “When we think and believe wrong thoughts it leads us to wrong actions which open wrong doors.”
Wage War
2 Corinthians 10:3-5, ‘For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.’ Paul here is very clear; he didn’t mention Satan or the Devil anywhere. He is urging the believers to take control of their thoughts and their own imaginations, which will prevent the lies of the enemy into our lives. James 4:12, ‘What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.’ There is no mention of the devil in these verses as well. According to James, spiritual warfare has to do with fighting with the flesh that comes to destroy our spiritual development. We need to crucify flesh today and every day to keep our-
selves far from the rulers of this world. Stand and live in the position God has placed us in. Our position as believers is having a joint seating with Christ in heavenly places. This might not always be our circumstance but this will always be our position. If you want to rise above your circumstances, take advantage of your position. Stop fighting the battle which is already won. We are more than conquers and this is how God sees us.
