In 1948, very few families were settled in Ambernath and weekly prayer started in the house of Mr. George Kunder in the same year. Ambernath church merged with the UBM Church Council, Bombay on 19th March 1949. Rev. Godfrey was the Pastor in charge at that time. From 1949 to 1957, weekly Sunday Divine Services were held at Wimco Prayer Hall, Ambernath and thereafter it was held at St. Thomas Church SPG under Late Rev. B.J. Kunder.
In the year 1965 under the leadership of Late Mr. D.B. Lucas, a plot of land measuring 100 sq. yards was purchased for the Church building (Present Structure). Rev. Dr. Rossel from Germany donated Rs. 1,69,000/- to the church for its construction and the work started in the year 1968 under the supervision of the Church building Erection Committee, appointed by the UBM Church Council.
The construction of the church building was completed in the year 1969. At present, we have a total of 235 families as members and Bethel Church has grown to become the largest congregation in UBM group of Churches.
