The foundation stone of the U.B.M. Sushanthi Church was laid by Rev. Christian of Basel Mission , Stuttgard, Germany on Easter Day, April 5, 1953. Rev Dr. Jacques Roussell, The then President of the Basel Mission in India dedicated the Sushanthi Church on February 21, 1954.
History is witness to the fact that a lot of people have passed through the gates of the Sushanthi Church having received God’s blessings. There are many people, scattered in all U.B.M. Churches in Mumbai, who take pride in the fact that the were baptised, confirmed and were married in this Church. “ we were born here, have grown up here and will die here itself,” is a statement that I have heard from some senior members of the Church, which reflects the strong sentiment they have for the Church.
Sushanthi Church is the Mother church to 13 other Churches, namely Ambernath, Chembur, Dombivli, Kalyan, Kurla, Marol, Malad, Mira Road,Navi Mumbvai, Thane, Vasai and Vikhroli. However, members from the Sushanthi Church have spread out to all these church, as a result, the number of members in the Sushanthi congregation has dwindled. A Ninety family are currently members here. Currently we have 90 families, 217 communicant members, 21 children total consists of 250 members.

To function in a disciplined manner, the Sunday School chalks out the entire year’s programme at the start of the year. Along with God’s Word, the Kannada language is also being taught to our students.
Women’s fellowship started in the year 1981. We gather in the church every Sunday after the Sunday service.
Music and musical instruments play a very important role in providing solemnity in worship and also assisting in bringing glory to God. At present, the Sushanthi Church choir renders good Christion songs and music.
