Navi Mumbai was initially part of the Chembur Church. However due to the travelling distance and inconvenience some of the members initiated to have a church in Navi Mumbai. The Navi Mumbai Church started on 10th July, 1988 with Rev. I D Soans serving as pastor in charge and Mr. Godwin Karkada as first elder. As Mr. Godwin Karkada was shifting to other state, eldership responsibilities was given to Mr. David Bangera.
In the initial years, Church service was conducted two times in a month in a School. In 2009, Rev. Krupakiran was appointed as pastor in-charge of Navi Mumbai after which Navi Mumbai was separated from Chembur and made an individual Church. Navi Mumbai Church service was held in different school’s during these years. In the year 2010, first presbytery meeting was held.
In the year 2013, During the service of Rev. Prakesh Gurusiddappa 25th anniversary was celebrated at Kannada sang, Vashi. On 5th April, 2015 Navi Mumbai Church was inaugurated and dedication service was held. Navi Mumbai Church was then named UBM Shalom Church, Navi Mumbai.
