In the 1950’s, the Bombay Housing Board began allotting residence to industrial workers in Station Colony (Subash Nagar), Chembur. Families from Byculla and other areas began allotting here. The Year 1953 witnessed the formation of the Chembur congregation and the commencement of House Prayer Meetings, at Kandari Colony near the railway station under the leadership of Mr. N.H. Kawal, Mr. B.P Bangera, Mr. Harsha Karkada and Mr. John E Karkada, some other families took up residence in Tilak nagar and started another House group meeting
In January 1955 at the House of Mr. P.W Suchita. Later in the same year all the prayer meetings merged to form a joint congregational Sunday Prayer Service in Township colony, Tilak Nagar, in the house of Late Mr. Abraham Anchan. Through the efforts of Late Mr. T.D Kunder the Tenants Association Hall in Shell Colony was procured. Regular Sunday morning Services were conducted on this premise for about fifteen years. During these years, the Chembur Congregation was under the UBM Sushanti Church, Byculla.

In 1965 the Chembur Presbytery was formed. In 1970, through the efforts of Dr. A.C Kunder the President, Church Council and other members, a plot of land in Chheda Nagar, Chembur, was purchased. Local Erection Committee was constituted with Mr. George Salins as the chairperson. Through the untiring efforts of Local Collection Committee, the Local Erection committee and the support of Mr. John Herbert Soans (President Church Council) the Church Building and the parsonage were constructed.

On 20th January 1973, Rev. Dr. Rosel, President, Basel Mission Home Board, laid the foundation stone of the Church, the Inauguration Christa Krupa Church was held on 11th February 1976 by Rt. Rev. S.R. Furtado (Bishop CSI Karnataka South Diocese).
